Sample Training Materials

Here is a typical day in the course. You will only be able to access one of the slidecasts and you can download some of the materials. Enjoy!

Today we help you set up the standard client paperwork you will need as you get your first clients – your VAA services proposal, you VAA service contract, a new client checklist, your invoice and more. Click here to go to the Toolbox. The forms you need to download are at the top of the page.

Take each form and customize it to put on your own contact information and put it in a file on your computer so it will be ready to go for your first client.

Today you learn about two new author services you can provide – coordinating a virtual book tour and helping the author with a live book event.

Coordinating a virtual book tour – More authors are turning to Virtual Book Tours, which are online book events around the time of the book launch, as an alternative to the author bearing the expense of a live book tour around the country. Creation of a virtual book tour includes an online promotional schedule for a month, soon after the book is launched, seeking to connect with bloggers who will read and recommend the book.

Coordinating a live book event – Back of the room selling opportunities take place before and after the author speaks at an event. This is one of the main ways authors profitably sell books and, as an author’s assistant, creating as many of these opportunities as you can with the author is part of the marketing of the book. Have some fun at the events surrounding the book’s launch. The author (and everyone around him or her) has worked hard to create the book, and deserve to celebrate that accomplishment.
